On July 1, 2020, Monterey One Water updated its website. Montereyonewater.org is one of our most powerful communication tools and the changes were designed with our customers in mind.
The design and development process was data driven. Personal preferences were left at home – both figuratively and literally as over half of this process took place during the shelter in place :) Website analytics, surveys, and interviews formed the basis for what you see today.
A few key items to note:
- One of the biggest changes to the user experience is the new navigation menu. All of the resources we had before, plus a bunch of new ones, can now be found within five categories: Customers, Sewer, Water Projects, About, and How Do I. Data showed us most users enter our website via the homepage. From there they navigate to what the need. Info must be easy to find and only a few clicks away.
- Most users visit our website using a desktop computer (65%) but that still leaves a substantial number who visit on their mobiles or tablets. Desktop monitors and laptops also come in a wide variety of sizes and dimensions today. This new site is responsive so the content will resize and reformat depending on the size of your screen.
- County demographics show that the area is home to many who do not speak English as their primary language. To ensure access to the critical information found on our website, the site is now equipped with Google Translate. By using the “Select Language” drop down at the top of the header, the full website will translate into the selected language.
We hope you enjoy learning about the Agency and utilizing the customer tools. If you have any feedback for the Monterey One Water team, please submit a Website Feedback Form.
